The 54th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival begins this Thursday, August 13th with a weekend full of national and local acts. On Sunday August 16th, WXPN and Zydeco Crossroads will present Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band at the Schwenksville, PA event. Discounted tickets for Sunday can be purchased by entering the code "allonsdanser" at check-out on the festival website. A look back at zydeco at the Grammys

From 2008 to 2011 Louisiana artists were given special attention at the GRAMMY Awards with their own Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album category. A dozen bands were nominated during that time, including Lost Bayou Ramblers for Live: Á La Blue Moon  in 2008, Cedric Watson for his self-titled record in 2009 and Pine Leaf Boys a record four times. The Bayou Swamp bandleader talks about the first time he saw his Grandfather playing the accordion, gets technical with an explanation of diatonic vs. chromatic accordions and explains what it is about zydeco music that makes people feel so good.
