The Lost Bayou Ramblers showed everyone a great Louisiana time at the XPoNential Music Festival last Friday evening. Read a review of the set by Nick Tate via WXPN’s local music blog The Key below and check out the photo gallery here.

Louisiana band Lost Bayou Ramblers stormed the stage this evening with their unique folk rock. They offer an eclectic mix of modern sounds and rhythms with ancient Cajun melodies and lyrics. Forget guitar, drums, and bass – throw some fiddle, accordion, and some lap steel, and you’ve got one heck of a band.
The Bayou Ramblers are nothing new to the music world. Their 2012 release Mammoth Waltzfeatured star-studded collaborations with Gordon Gano, Scarlet Johansson, and Dr. John. That same year, they contributed songs to the highly acclaimed film Beasts of the Southern Wild.
2014 saw the Bayou Ramblers on Arcade Fire’s REFLEKTOR tour, plus #1 on our own David Dye’s “five favorite live music moments in and out of the World Café studio”.
Tonight’s set was poignant for the band, because they dedicated some of their songs to the shooting tragedy that happened last night in their hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana. One of these songs was the infectious melody of “Oh My”.
