All week on World Cafe David Dye will be sharing the sessions, stories and sounds of Sense of Place: Lafayette.

When the World Cafe team went down to Louisiana last month they explored the city from front to back, meeting new music friends like yesterday’s featured artists Royal Teeth, stopping in at Olde Tyme Grocery for authentic po’ boys (thanks to a tip from old music friends Givers) and visiting Lake Martin (pictured above) to spot some local wildlife.

Now back in Philadelphia, it’s time to share Lafayette with you.

Today, David plays back an archive performance by Michael Doucet and Beausoleil from 1998.  Tomorrow he welcomes Zydeco Crossroads contributor and host of Zydeco Stomp on KRVS in Lafayette Herman Fuselier to the show along with music from Soul Creole and CJ Chenier‘s set from the 2014 XPoNential Music Festival.  Thursday’s program continues with Lost Bayou Ramblers and a Latin Roots segment co-hosted by KRVS’ Diego Martin Perez.  And Sense of Place: Lafayette comes to a close on Friday with Sonny Landreth, followed by an archive interview with Bobby Charles.

Watch Royal Teeth perform “Rich” for their World Cafe session below, recorded live at KRVS. Tune in at 2:00pm EST to 88.5 WXPN in Philadelphia, your local affiliate station (broadcast times vary) or worldwide at www.xpn.org all week to hear the rest of Sense of Place: Lafayette.
