Artist Spotlight: Keith Frank & The Soileau Zydeco Band

Posted on November 19, 2014November 18, 2014 by Julie Miller

Keith Frank is one of the most prolific musicians to come out of zydeco, having released a dozen records over the course of his career.  Based in the small southwest Louisiana town of Soileau, Frank and his Soileau Zydeco Band have helped carry the traditions of the genre into the twenty first century by blending elements of hip hop, blues and R&B with the classic funky, accordion-based arrangements.  This is a zydeco band that covers “Beast of Burden” by the Rolling Stones, after all.  Frank’s main goal is to get people moving to the music, which “The Zydeco Boss” does expertly and energetically every time.  Watch the group perform at the Virginia Key Grassroots Festival below.
