KRVS’ Judith Meriwether spoke with filmmaker Robert Mugge and Cinema on the Bayou founder Pat Mire on Apres Midi earlier this week, exploring their experience with Zydeco Crossroads: A Tale of Two Cities ahead of last Tuesday’s world premiere and Cinema on the Bayou fundraiser.
The hour-long interview looks at how Mugge’s focus on zydeco families across his career intersected with WXPN’s interest in Southwest Louisiana, and the multitude of radio shows, live shows and cultural exchanges that have been happening over the last year as part of the Zydeco Crossroads project.
Our own premiere up here in Philadelphia takes place during the second day of the Zydeco Crossroads Finale Weekend on Saturday, October 24th at 3:00 p.m. at World Cafe Live. Surrounding the centerpiece film will be performances from five zydeco bands, a live panel discussion and dance lessons with Allons Danser.
Tickets and more details for the two-day event can be found here. Listen to the interview here.
