Nick Spitzer interviews Joe Mouton on this segment of American Routes. The Lousiana native began performing zydeco music in his forties, adopting the moniker Zydeco Joe and using his songs to spread stories of growing up on the land with his family and farm animals. Mouton performs a handful of songs during the interview, including “Mama Fred’s Backyard” and “Jack Rabbit Zydeco.” Listen below and check out more American Routes features on zydeco here.
