On Saturday, December 6th, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble brought some seriously fun, uplifting, and rocking zydeco grooves to the Kimmel Center Perelman Theatre in Philadelphia for the local Philly launch of Zydeco Crossroads. The band played two sets and the evening started off with a dance lesson from Harold Guillory, the Don Cornelius of Zydeco music. The band played a mix of classic zydeco songs, originals and tossed in a few zydeco flavored takes on some classic R&B songs including James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.” The top notch band included bassist Chris Jefferson, Oreun Joubert on drums, guitarists Joe Chavis and Ray Mouton and Mac Roberts on rubboard. Listen to both sets below and check out the photo gallery by Joseph Schembri.
